Stone Manor Presscreates limited edition artist’s books, letterpress cards and invitations, and custom bindings. I have been creating unique cards for greater than 15 years and binding books since 1999. I use a Vandercook Universal 1 and a Chandler and Price Pilot letterpress with both handset lead type and photopolymer plates. I also incorporate digital photography, silk screen and hand painted backgrounds into the books and cards. |

What is an Artist's book? The definition of an artist’s book is a subject of much discussion in the book / art world. My definition of an artist’s book is one that combines both the content and the binding to communicate a single theme / concept. These can be created by one person or done as a collaboration with two or more artists. An artist book can communicate solely with words or images, or use some combination of the two. They can use a traditional book form or be hardly recognizable as a book. They may push the limits of “bookness” or be the ultimate in a fine book edition. I find both ends of the spectrum of artist books addictive to both the creator and the collector |
